Calendar backup
Like a disk backup, for your calendars.
Install it and forget it. HistoriCal quietly copies every past event from every calendar on your Mac into one archive calendar you keep. When a work account closes or you unsubscribe, your past is still there.
- Set and forget. It runs in the background: no window, no dock icon.
- Every calendar. Work, family, school, the kids' team.
- Just a calendar. The archive sits in Calendar with the rest. No app needed to read it.
Your calendars separate, and not yours
Your HistoriCal Archive one record, kept
For macOS 14 or later. HistoriCal never writes to your other calendars.
Why a calendar needs a backup
Then
Calendars used to keep themselves.
One paper month on the kitchen wall, written on in whatever pen was nearby. At the end of the year it went in a drawer, and the year was all there.

Now
Digital calendars come and go.
Most of them aren't yours: an employer's, a school's, a team's. When the account closes or you unsubscribe, their past events vanish. Nobody tells you, and there is no undo.
Your calendars two years later
- It keeps:
- Work, school and the kids' team calendars vanish when you leave. The archive stays.
- It's ordinary:
- A real calendar in Calendar.app, on every device the account reaches. No app needed to read it.
- It's yours:
- Edit it, annotate it, delete what you didn't need. What you delete stays deleted.
Set it and forget it
- 1. Install:
- Allow it to read your calendars. macOS asks once.
- 2. Forget it:
- HistoriCal wakes in the background, copies what has finished, and goes back to sleep.Like a backup, you think about it only when you need it.
- 3. Look back:
- HistoriCal Archive is one more calendar in Calendar. Hide it, show it, edit it.

Privacy
Nothing leaves your Mac. HistoriCal has no account and no analytics, and goes online only to check for updates: when you ask, or if you turn on automatic checks. It reads your calendars and writes only to its own archive calendar; your other calendars are never changed. Its records live in ~/Library/Application Support/HistoriCal, and a license key is checked on your Mac, offline.
This website counts visits without cookies or anything that identifies you. If you join the waiting list, your address gets one email when HistoriCal is ready and is then deleted. Only we hold it.
